AREX summary declaration system EDI testing
Companies applying for EDI sender status must be registered EORI customers. The EDI sender application form and completion instructions can also be found on the Customs website. After Customs has processed a company’s application for EDI sender status, the testing official at Finnish Customs contacts the company’s contact person as indicated in the application, in order to set dates for the testing and for opening the connection. Prior to being approved as an EDI sender the company must test its summary declaration software and network connections with Customs.
The purpose of the testing is to ensure that messages sent by the company are as correct as possible before proceeded to the production stage. EDI sender testing consists of two phases: technical and parallel testing. During technical testing, the testing official ensures that the communications are working and that the messages sent by the company comply with the message implementation guidelines of Customs. The parallel testing is conducted to ensure that the company’s employees know how to complete summary declaration messages correctly. The testing must be completed in three to five weeks, depending on the given messages and the used modes of transport. If the time limit is exceeded, testing will be stopped and the company must schedule a new testing time.
More information on testing will be published in the near future.
