Web Import project has started
In the autumn of 2009, Finnish Customs launched a project to plan and implement a web service for the business and private customers of Customs, for submitting a customs declaration on the web instead of submitting a SAD form on paper. The service will be available to customers from early 2011.
For private persons, a simplified interface will be created for the clearance of postal items. Using the interface, they submit to Customs only a part of the data that must be submitted in so-called commercial import. The service requires identification using the online bank ID (private persons) or the Katso ID (businesses).
While using the service, the customer will also have the possibility to pay the invoice according to the customs clearance decision at the online bank. Registered credit customers of Customs will continue to receive periodic specifications.
