Statistic specification: Eastbound transit road transports
Title of statistics
Eastbound transit road transports
Collector
Finnish National Board of Customs
Description
These statistics describe the volume and estimated value of transit road transports through Finland to Russia.
Data content
These statistics quarterly specify the data on the transit consignments arriving at the customs border of Finland to be transported by road to Russia without customs clearance within the Finnish customs territory. They indicate the quantities in tons according to the most important customs offices along the Eastern border, and the most important product categories. Moreover, the total value of the consignments is estimated according to customs offices and product categories. Transit goods are not included in the statistical material on trade.
Data collecting method
These data are collected at the most important customs offices along the Eastern border (Imatra, Nuijamaa, Vaalimaa). The material also contains information on the customs offices through which the transit transports enter Finland. The data are transmitted to be combined by the Statistics Unit at the National Board of Customs. This Unit also composes an estimate on the transit transport values according to product categories e.g. on the basis the prices quoted at the import into Russia from the West and those quoted at the export from Finland to Russia.
Applied classifications
The product classification applied to compiling the transit statistics is the CPA classification as per the EU Council Regulation, EEC, 29.10.1993, No. 3969/93. The commodities are classified into 19 categories e.g. on the basis of the import in Russia from the West and the export from Finland to Russia.
